Dr. B Erik Thompson - Chief Veterinarian

Dr. B Erik Thompson

Chief Veterinarian

Education: University of Georgia
Hometown: Long Island, NY
Pets: Corgis and Felines

Dr. Erik Thompson was born in New York on Long Island. His mother was a biologist, so his interest in life sciences was firmly established before he even had a choice. During high school, his family owned a fifty-acre mountaintop farm in the Appalachians of West Virginia, where he raised chickens, sheep, cattle, and horses. Graduating from high school a year early he attended West Virginia University for his undergraduate degree and the University of Georgia for his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.

With his DVM in hand and a love of the outdoors, Dr. Thompson made a beeline for Oregon, because of its second-to-none geography. He’s called Oregon his home since 1986. In 1988, Dr. Thompson started Aloha Animal Medical Center, where he practiced small animal medicine and surgery.

Coming from a teaching background (both parents were public school teachers) Dr. Thompson enjoys educating his clients on the ins and outs of what’s up with their pets. Sometimes we wish he’d hurry up in the exam rooms, but clients seem to appreciate the time he spends with them explaining the intricacies of their pet’s maladies.

As far as hobbies they run the gamut from Kite Surfing and Skiing to playing guitar and singing in a Rock n Roll band. Never a dull moment in his life. As to his professional passions, they are learning new and better ways to treat the endless array of difficult problems that arise in our furry friends. Examples include Class IV Laser therapy, Veterinary Chiropractic Medicine, ProloTherapy, and a myriad of nutritional therapies for common problems. Dr. Thompson has a special interest in dermatology and ear problems, treating dental diseases, and most surgical procedures. His ultimate goal is to help your pets to have a great quality life for as long as possible.

Ashley
Ashley McBride, CVA
Certified Veterinary Assistant

Education: Pima Medical Institute, Seattle, WA,
Hometown: Shoreline, WA
Pets: Pit Bull Terrier (Penelope), 3 cats (Paisley, Patrick, and Luca), and 2 guinea pigs (Cheyanne & Red).

I was born in southern California, at George Air Force Base, Ontario. I spent some of my childhood in Southern California and was always surrounded by many animals. My Aunt had a ranch and horse boarding where I regularly assisted in feeding and cleaning stalls and working the horses. Then, we moved to Seattle, WA and though I didn’t ride anymore in the big city, we always have had lots of pets. We had 4 dogs and 3 cats at any given time in our house, so naturally, I have always loved caring for our furry family members. After attending Pima Medical Institute in 2005, I moved to Portland where I worked with a few veterinary clinics until I got hired at West Hills Animal Clinic. While there, I quickly took on an Office Manager position and worked alongside Dr. Bartel where we were a great team for over 13 years. He recently retired, closed the clinic and moved to Florida. I spent the last summer with my 2 amazing kids, Rowan (7 yrs.), Eli (12 yrs) and my husband, Josh. In our free time we like camping, mushroom hunting, painting, wood carving and family game night. My special interests are in internal medicine, client education and preventative care.

Cross (GCH Sunset Cross’s the Test of Time) obtained his AKC Championship during Rose City Classic 2018 Breeder/Owner/Handled by Dawn D Danner!
